Powder Coating Services Ltd was formed in 1992. That’s when Metal Art’s owner George Longstaff concluded that if his architectural furniture was to have the standard of finish his customers demanded, he would have to control the process himself. Bringing in brother Jim to run the operation, George established the business as a stand-alone operation. It didn’t take long for other manufacturers and the building industry to notice the quality of work Metal Art was putting into shops, cafes and offices, and the powder coating business developed quickly from there.
From the start, George recognised that the key to success in powder coating is the quality of preparation. A conscious decision was made to become the best in pre-treatment processes, and with its reputation firmly in place the company expanded its booth and oven curing capacity.
In 1995 Dave Beazer joined the company to strengthen the administration and sales functions. With Jim and Dave working together, the business prospered to the point where Powder Coating Services began to encroach on its neighbour Metal Art’s factory space, forcing George to seek more space along the road. In 2012 Jim Longstaff retired, and Shane Fahey came on board as Dave’s assistant manager.
